I'm sure there are those that measure their worth with how much likes their post receives. However on a couple of other forums I'm on it's quite good. Especially those that have threads purely for pics and not comments. You can show your appreciation of the post without making a stupid post.

I for one have found it to be quite handy as I don't like to post TOO much and if I can show appreciation or agreement of someone elses post without having to comment I will.

I personally don't see AN as a site that people measure how big their E-peen is unlike the other forums I'm on. Seems much less of a popularity contest on here and everyone just gets along.
(and before anyone feels like implying that the popularity contests on the other forums are a result of the 'like' buttons on the posts, I'll note that these forums were heavily infested with such attitudes many years prior to that function being added).

Use a different software you mean? I remember they upgraded to another version (3.0 maybe) that they had to move the DB or something and that took a day or two other than that, I think they've always used vB.

Nether do we. After they announced that they were changing their software a few years back, we've heard nothing since and my messages to Josh on the matter have been ignored.

Overall, I think a better forum skin would be nice. The current looks really... eh... well, not very good.

And uh... a larger maximum avatar kb size would be nice. Any decent gif animation ends up being around the 50-60kb or so range, so maybe like a 75kb limit or something would be nice and allow for more creative avatars. Maybe even 100kb.

There are a bunch of skins to choose from, check out the bottom left corner of the page.

Also, change your avatar, that's a bit much for this forum.

Remember back in the day when Animenation hosted art contests? I mean, big league stuff, with prizes and glamour...

We should bring that back one of these days. I know the last one attracted quite a few new faces (and those who only joined to participate...and never returned again

), so we'd have an increase in interest around here. Maybe you should tailor the prizes to include some sort of coupon so whoever wins has to spend money at your store

. Tricky tricky.

I dunno. I just miss the good old days at AN. We really don't have much going on anymore

I think the art contest would be a good idea.

I've noticed the Fan Art section is so dead these days... I really miss the activity that used to be in that section.

Most likely cause somebody hasn't gotten around to moderating it yet, tho it's potentially from a long time ago. I normally browse this forum at work, so I avoid any threads regarding large image posts or animated gifs, as I don't want them on my web browsing logs.
