About Alice Catherine

First of all, I am not merely making this thread because of my obvious connection with Alice Catherine. It's also not hard to figure out exactly why she got banned in the first place; on a technical standpoint, she may have even deserved what she got. But certain issues must be brought to light regarding the matter:

1. It was a known fact among at least one of the mods that Alice was banned three times before (she was MissKnowItAll/Alisstiss/Plastic Tree), probably even the moment she joined. And yet she has stuck with us for about a year and a half, even as she stirred controversy among the other members.

2. Her other banned accounts aside, I've been familiar with Alice's behavior back when she was known as MissKnowItAll, and she had still shown an obvious improvement compared to her earlier incarnations. In fact, I can come up with quite a few other members whose behavior is even worse compared to hers today (who shall remain anonymous for their protection), each of them probably older than her.

3. Even still, her posts as Alice Catherine were no worse than the ones I myself made back when I first joined, and I can't imagine a lot of other members aren't in the same boat. By these standards, those people and myself should have been banned a long time ago.

No, I do not expect these points to change the mods' opinions. Alice broke the rules four times now, which is two strikes more than allowed in many places. Still, Alice showed nothing but typical 14-year-old female behavior; a better-schooled one than most, but still a 14-year-old nonetheless. It would be asinine to have such high standards for her at this point.

Well, we could always ask whether this ban is permanent or not, although we pretty much already know the answer by now...

I can't just up and ban everybody now, can I? Technically I pretty much could, if I really really nitpicked and had a much itchier trigger finger. We as S-Mods try to give leeway, but not too much.

And besides, if you see a post by any member that is out of place... report it, thus alerting all moderators to the post/thread. PMing a link to a mod is fine, but don't expect the effectiveness that you can get by reporting.

I don't think Alice should be banned. It's not like she ever flamed anyone.

She just kept derailing threads.

Well, I didn't create this thread for the purpose of complaining to the mods, because I knew her ban was inevitable anyway. I just found it interesting that it took until now for the mods to take action knowing she'd been banned before.

Still, this isn't Gaia, and this isn't *chan. We as members of a company-owned forum have responsibilities to uphold, and we can't merely go around citing forced memes or posting the same comments over and over like the forums deeper underground. AN has a lot of reputation for such a niche market, and it could potentially only take one more Alice Catherine or one more Evil_Koala or whoever to ruin it.

Sorry but we can't ignore that. The auguries say no.

Still, this time I thought she was provoked into it. **** posted the ultimate flamebait, and what's more, while Alice was online. Anyone who saw that thread knows that, and she read it. I think that considering the situation she was put in, a stern warning could've sufficed. Of course, I don't think I'm to familiar about her 'past' offenses.

Still, she was provoked, and I say that with all honesty. I don't think AC should've been the only person banned today.

EDIT: Oh wait... yesterday... xD.

..."slitting one's throat" is a metaphor to describe self-destruction.

kinda like going to Ronald McDonald's and supersizing it.
