Nickelodeon to Co-Produce Anime

The popular cable television network Nickelodeon has announced plans to co-produce two anime series for broadcast in America. Nickelodeon will partner with the Domo Production Committee to co-develop and produce 26 two-minute episodes of a show based on Domo-Kun, the mascot for Japan’s leading TV network NHK. Nickelodeon will also partner with Japan’s Polygon Pictures to produce a 3-D CG anime adaptation of Ira Ishida’s manga series Akihabara@Deep, which has already been adapted into a live action Japanese TV drama.

Nickelodeon has broadcast numerous anime series in its history including Belle and Sebastian, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Adventures of the Little Koala, and Noozles, but these two productions will be the first anime co-created by the network.
