Ask John: Are There Any Card Captor Sakura Video Games?
|Question:
Do you know if there was ever a game made based on “Cardcaptor Sakura?” What are the odds that the game(s), if it/they exist, will be released in America? Also, what was the first CLAMP manga to be made into an anime?
Answer:
There are actually several Card Captor Sakura video games. There’s an RPG for the Wonderswan, and an adventure game for the Color Gameboy. There’s also a 3D game in the works for the Dreamcast. There are 3 Card Captor Sakura games for the Playstation. Animetic Story 1: Card Captor Sakura is a very cute, very simple RPG that follows the first dozen or so Japanese TV episodes. This game especially would be a perfect game to bring to the US if Card Captor Sakura gets popular enough in the US to support video games. There’s also Tetris with Card Captor Sakura and Card Captor Sakura: Clow Card magic, an adventure game. The odds of any of these games making it to the US, though, are pretty slim, especially when you consider the number of video games there are in Japan that are based on anime series and how few of them have come to the US.
