Zakka Films to Distribute Vintage Anime on DVD

Zakka Films, a new specialty film distributor focused on obscure and vintage Japanese cinema, has announced its first DVD release, The Roots of Japanese Anime: Until the End of WWII. The $34.95 special edition DVD contains 8 early Japanese animation works dating from 1930 through 1942, including the 1942 military propaganda film Momotaro no Umiwashi (“Momotaro’s Sea Eagles”) that constitutes Japan’s first “feature length” animation.
