YamaKan Moving Into Live Action

Yutaka “YamaKan” Yamamoto, director of the Kannagi TV anime and episode director for Suzumiya Haruhi & Lucky Star, will helm a live action feature adaptation of the award winning romance novel Watashi no Yasashikunai Senpai (My Mean Sempai), written by Akira. The high school romance revolves around teen girl Yamako Iriomote (played by Umika Kawashima) who writes love letters to an upperclassman, but never delivers them. Yamako’s life gets more complicated when “smelly, disgusting, annoying” Fuwa (played by Satoshi Kanada) learns of Yamako’s crush and insists on trying to assist in her romantic pursuit. The movie will hit theaters next year.
