The Lovely Angels Are On Their Way
Nozomi Entertainment has formally announced its acquisition of North American distribution rights to the 1985 Dirty Pair television series. The classic 26 episode show is the only Dirty Pair anime to have never been previously officially released in America. The series will be hit American DVD on December 12 in two subtitled DVD collections retailing at $49.99 each.
Yup. Already pre-ordered my sets.

I’ll be a dick and do some price-comparisons on other e-tailers first. Though it’d be hilarious if websites start using this as an excuse to defend DP Flash the way people are now trying to defend Heaven’s Gate.
Do want! That $100 price tag is a little painful, though. I admit that I’ve been completely spoiled with cheap DVD box sets.
The MSRP is indeed a bit of a sticker shock for our spoiled fan community. I would hold off myself normally, but this release is historical. This series has been wrapped in so much red tape it almost didn’t seem economically worth it. And now it’s coming. An exception if there ever was one.
It’s not as cheap as other sets still, but the distribution company is selling it for under $40 per set if that helps. It comes to just over $75, which has been steep for the last 5 years, but you have to consider you’re getting a piece of history from the ground floor. I’ve pre-ordered my sets as well, because Nozomi deserves the support for what they’re doing.
