Capcom vs SNK Goes Beta

Capcom is now beta-testing the arcade version of Capcom vs SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 in Tokyo and Osaka. There are 28 selectable characters, and the player can choose between “normal” and “turbo” speed since its release at E3. The 28 selectable characters are Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Zangief, Dhalsim, E.Honda, Blanka, Balrog, Vega, Sagat, M.Bison, Cammy, and Sakura from the Capcom side, Kyo, Iori, Terry, Ryo, Mai, Kim, Geese, Yamazaki, Raiden, Rugal, Vice, Benimaru, Yuri, and King from the SNK side. (Editorial Note: d*mn, no Cammy vs Blue Mary). Capcom vs SNK features the “flexible ration system” where it lets players select up to four characters, depending on which characters they select. Each player is allotted a total of four ratio points for character selection. Most of the characters have a one ratio, but main characters like Ryu and Kyo cost two points, and the boss characters like M.Bison and Rugal require three points to select. In addition, players can also choose between Capcom Groove and SNK Groove play styles. Capcom Groove uses the super combo level gauge system from the Street Fighter Alpha series, while SNK Groove uses the extra gauge system from the King Of Fighters series. Interestingly, when players select SNK characters with Capcom groove, the character art is that of Nishimura Kinu, the character artist for Capcom’s Street Fighter series. Likewise, if you have selected Capcom characters with SNK groove, you will see the character art of Shinkiro, SNK’s character artist. Some of the in-game graphics of the characters (such as Mai, Yuri, King, and Benimaru) have also been revamped to show influence from the character artists.
