AD Vision Otakon News

DVD releases of their Fansub lines will be forthcoming. Nadia: Secret of Blue Water will be released some time next year, with the City Hunter TV coming afterwards. They just proofed the much-awaited first DVD for Nadesico. They are planning a DVD release of Blue Seed and the Cutey Honey OAVs on 2 DVDs each. The monthly Bubble Gum Crisis TV DVD releases will begin in September.

Neon Genesis Evangelion DVD disc 2 is currently in production. They are not using the same production house that did the first DVD. They plan to put each DVD into production every 3 days after the 2nd disc turns out properly. They have talked about re-doing the first Neon Genesis Evangelion DVD. (Presumably to clean up the poor picture quality) No decision has been made yet regarding this possibility, nor has any announcement been made yet regarding whether future discs will continue to employ digital editing.

AD Vision has financed and secured US rights to 7 shows in Japan, including Sin and Lady Death. Upcoming releases include City Hunter: The Secret Service, the Rurouni Kenshin movie (possibly October), Slayers Return (next summer?), Slayers Gorgeous, Martian Successor Nadesico movie, Sin, Lady Death (next year), Gamera 2 and Gamera 3 (next summer at the earliest with a tentative theatrical release first). All three Gamera films are planned for a DVD release at the same time. Princess Nine, a surprisingly good girls’ baseball team drama TV series will premier in April 2001. The You’re Under Arrest movie may be released in theaters [although your editor believes this to be very unlikely, all things considered].

Before Christmas, AD Music will be launched. They currently have the soundtracks for Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Akira and Macross Plus.

Codename: Robotech (an expanded version of the “Gloval’s Report” episode) will be out sometime before Christmas in a VHS dub only. This “prototype episode” was actually shown in some markets and was used to initially sell the show to TV stations. The rest of Robotech will be DVD only.

Spriggan has been delayed until a possible theatrical release in February.
