Mari-tan Really Joins the US Military

The United States Armed Forces in Japan have announced the release of an original four-part manga collaboration with the creators of the popular Magical Marine Pixel Mari-tan (Maho no Kaiheitai Pixel Mari-tan) franchise. The Our Alliance — A Lasting Partnership (Watashi-tachi no Doumei – Eizoku-teki Partnership) will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan. The manga will be written and drawn by the artists behind Hobby Japan’s ongoing series of Pixel Mari-tan picture books and CDs that star cute little military girls that teach Japanese speakers how to speak English like a drill seargent (i.e. full of profanity). The Our Alliance manga series will star new characters Arai Anzu (“Alliance”) and Usa-kun (U.S.A.-kun), an American boy visiting Japan. The first chapter of the Our Alliance manga will be released to the public tomorrow.
