Japan Embracing Bargain Shopping?

I just hope they don’t end up buying cheaper products, just because they’re cheap, since you usually get what you pay for when it’s Mainland Chinese-made. From what I read a while back, the reason the Japanese were willing to pay higher prices is they believed that the products were of better quality. Though at least they didn’t go broke blowing it all on Hummers and McMansions like consumers here…
