Studio Deen President Financing Folklore Anime

59-year-old president of Studio DEEN Hiroshi Hasegawa is moving forward with his plans to self-finance an anime feature film that adapts folk stories from his birthplace, western Tottori Prefecture, and his late wife’s birthplace, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. The production is the fulfillment of a promise that Hasegawa made to his wife, Michiko, before she passed away last May. The hybrid live action and anime film will include 11 stories, each roughly ten minutes long. Hasegawa plans to distribute the film for free to educational and social institutions.
