X-Men producer Lauren Shuler-Donner and Warner Brothers have chosen writer-director Hype Williams (whose only feature credit is writer, producer and director of Belly) as the latest director to helm the American big-screen adaptation of Speed Racer.

With the recent success of Scary Movie, it looks like parodies may be the next trend in movies. Mandalay Pictures has purchased Tom Jankiewicz’s comedy script Kung Foo Theater and plans to start shooting the film in February. A parody of the martial arts film genre, Kung Foo concerns a comic book artist who is transported into a martial arts film playing on his TV.
