ADV News
|ADV Films at the Anime Weekend Atlanta announced that the proof disc for Evangelion DVD 2 looks good, so fans who may have been disappointed with the lackluster quality of DVD 1 maybe in for some nice surprises with the second. ADV mentioned that they have several DVD authoring houses working on multiple discs and very soon, perhaps even as early as next month, fans can expect to see a flood of back catalog titles being released on DVD one per week. The DVD 9 format is going to be utilized as well, allowing for more content on each disc. Back catalog titles in the works include the Slayers and Dirty Pair OAVs, Dirty Pair Flash, Curse of the Undead: Yoma, a Gunsmith Cats disc with all three episodes and the “making of” feature, and the Blue Seed television series, to be released in 4 discs with 7 episodes each on discs 1 & 2 and 6 episodes each on discs 3 & 4. Each disc will retail for $29.95. ADV is seeking the omake (“SD Nadia,” etc.) extras for the Nadia DVD release. A company other than Gainax holds the rights to these extras. ADV is planning a multimedia blitz with Spectral Force. While AD Vision releases the OAV, Studio Ironcat will be translating the manga series, and at least one of the video games will premier in English for the Playstation.
A fan asked if dub actor bloopers from titles could ever come out of ADV. The given response was that often times the contract involved with dubbing cannot allow for anything other than the scripted voices to be published. The ADV music label was said to be not on the back or front burners but currently being advanced on the side; fans could see the label cranking up in possibly 2-3 months.
