Live Action Akira Back On
|Last May Warner Bros. shut down pre-visualization for its live-action Akira film. A week later, film director Albert Hughes departed the production, citing “creative differences” with the studio. This week Warner announced that it intends to begin production of the movie in earnest in late February or early March 2012 with Jaume Collett-Serra (Unknown, Orphan) directing. Tron Legacy star Garrett Hedlund is reportedly the front-runner prospect to star in the film. Warner describes its adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s sci-fi manga as a projected “$90 million blockbuster.”

It’s gonna to be a wonderful movie. I believe a child will love a doll motorcyle from this film.
I think this would have gone over a lot better if they all of a sudden, decided to make this a parody film instead of a strict adaptation.
Aaron: They already did a parody film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jafd97yJFOI
