Sentai Confirms Hoshi o Ou Kodomo Acquisition

Confirming months of widespread public speculation, Sentai Filmworks has formally announced its acquisition of domestic theatrical & home video distribution rights to creator/director Makoto Shinkai’s 2011 anime film Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below (Hoshi o Ou Kodomo). The film will initially get a theatrical screening at the Nuart Theater in Los Angeles from June 26 – July 3, followed by nationwide limited theatrical screening and a DVD & BD release.

Creator Makoto Shinkai burst onto the anime scene with highly his highly acclaimed short film Voices of a Distant Star, and continued to garner attention with his Place Promised in Our Early Days & 5 Centimeters Per Second features. The stylistically different Hoshi o Ou Kodomo met with mixed critical reaction and less acclaim.
