Gainax Revives Aoki Uru Again

Gainax announced yesterday that it is once again ramping up plans to produce its long-dormant Wings of Honneamise sequel film Aoki Uru (Blue Uru). Honneamise writer Hiroyuki Yamaga & character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto created the Aoki Uru concept in 1992, but development of the film was canceled in 1993 due to insufficient funding. Gainax announced plans to revive the production in 1998 and 2001, but neither effort came to fruition. Gainax releaesd Yamaga’s original screenplay along with character, mecha, and background design sketches from Masamune Shirow & Kazuki Miyatake in the 1998 Aoi Uru Frozen Designs Collection CD-ROM.
