Discotek Reveals Additional License Rescues
|Discotek Media has formally announced its acquisition of domestic distribution rights to the 1972 Devilman television series. The 39-episode horror/action show has never been officially released in America before. The complete series will be released on domestic DVD next year.
Discotek has also revealed its license rescues of the first Cardcaptor Sakura motion picture, Jin-Roh motion picture, Lily C.A.T. OVA, and Dallos OVA series. The 1999 Cardcaptor Sakura movie was released on domestic DVD by Geneon in 2002. Discotek will re-release the film on DVD and Blu-ray next year. Bandai Entertainmnet released the 1998 military suspense film Jin-Roh on domestic DVD in 2002 and Blu-ray in 2007. Discotek will re-release the film on DVD & Blu-ray next year. Celebrity Home Entertainment released director Mamoru Oshii’s 4-episode Dallos sci-fi drama OVA on American dubbed VHS in 1991. The 1984 OVA series was Japan’s first-ever OVA production. Discotek will release the series on domestic DVD early next year. Streamline Entertainment’s English dub of the 1987 sci-fi/horror OVA Lily C.A.T. was released on domestic VHS in 1995. Discotek will release the OVA on bilingual DVD early next year.

Fear the domestic DVD release of Lily C.A.T. Be afraid, be very afraid… Nah just playin’, that movie kinda sucks but I’ll buy it. I love that the Video Comics/Streamline stuff is getting re-released. Makes me feel like a kid again. Definitely buying Devilman too. So hyped!!!!
