Toei Robot Girls to Become a January TV Series

Toei Animation has announced plans to expand its Toei Robot Girls marketing campaign into a series of nine 10-minute-long anime TV episodes. Toei launched the Toei Robot Girls project initially depicting the classic mecha Mazinger Z, Gaiking, Gakeen, and Baratack as human girls/robot hybrids back in 2009. A short pilot anime (seen below) was released in 2011. Hiroshi Ikehata, the director of the promotional pilot, will direct the TV series that will star the “Robot Girls Team Z” consisting of Z-chan (Mazinger Z), Gre-chan (Great Mazinger), and Grenda-san (UFO Robo Grendizer), supplemented by appearances from Gai-chan (Gaiking), Gacky (Gakeen), Bara-tan (Baratack), and Dandan (Danguard Ace). The new anime will premiere in January.
