Animation Legend Passes Away

Animation legend William Hanna, co-chairman and co-founder of Hanna Barbera Studios, passed away yesterday at his home in North Hollywood at the age of 90. The cause of his death has not yet been released. Hanna began his professional career in 1937 at MGM, where he met his future partner Joseph Barbera. After MGM closed its animation division, Hanna & Barbera opened their own studio in 1957 and went on to produce more than 3,000 animated half-hour television shows, including Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, the Flintstones, Scooby Doo and the Jetsons. The duo received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame in 1976 and were inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1993.
