NISA Acquires Cardcaptor Sakura TV Series
|NISA has announced its license-rescue of the 1998 Cardcaptor Sakura television series. The series will be released on August 5 as a nine-disc bilingual Blu-ray set retailing at $249.99 and 3 four-disc bilingual DVD collections retailing at $59.99 each. The 70-episode TV series was previously released on subtitled DVD by Geneon in 2000.
Ugh. This poses a challenge for me. I’ve purchased the limited edition version of every NISA release so far, but I still have a complete set of the original R1 CCS DVDs that I purchased 14 years ago. Most of them are still brand new. I really don’t need to double-dip on this series.

You can just trade in most of the old discs for store credit on Amazon. Plus, NISA’s releases will likely have an enhanced A/V job.
Or sell ’em on E-bay, I guess. I know how you feel, though, ‘cus I still have the original Cat’s Eye first season from ImaginAsian, and I’m not trading that up for the Right Stuf one.
I say go for it, John. The blu-rays will have better quality anyway, and I think this series needs to be supported if it ever gets license rescued.
I LOVE YOU NISA! THANK YOU! 😀
Tsukuyomi: If you really love NISA, get all the CCS fans with deep pockets you know of to support the show. ‘Cus NISA might need it.
I hope they rescue / release the movies as well on Blu-Ray.
Keep Disco: Discotek has the first movie on DVD, so support it, if you want it and the other film on Blu-Ray.
