AD Vision News from A-Kon

AD Vision has licensed two new anime TV series- Colorful and Gunbare! Goemon. Colorful was a 16 episode sex comedy from 1999 that was aired as part of the variety program Wonderful, similar to other “short” anime TV series including Di-Gi-Charat, Iketeru Futari, and Momoiro Sisters. Each episode of Colorful ran just over six minute long. The children’s series Ganbare! Goemon lasted for 23 episodes from 1997-1998 and may be best known to Americans from the Nintendo “Mystical Ninja” video games.

The two episode Spectral Force OAV series, Devilman Lady, and the Chance: Triangle Session TV series that’s currently broadcasting on Japanese television are all tentatively slated for release next year.

Spriggan is scheduled to premier theatrically in the US in September, although which city will host the premier is still undecided. Current plans are to distribute the film in very limited theatrical release and allow word of mouth to dictate greater theatrical distribution.

The Daigard, Houshin Engi (titled “Soul Hunter”), and Princess Nine TV series will be released on DVD only. Contrary to previous announcements, the plan is now to release Princess Nine on 6 DVDs of 4-5 episodes per disc at $19.98 each. AD Vision apparently does own the domestic distribution rights to the Japanese home video version of Sakura Tsushin (Sakura Dairies) and is considering releasing the more risque version on two DVDs. “Whatever they decided, massive changes in scene orders between the two versions pretty much insure this will be a sub-only release.” There are no plans for Nadesico to be rereleased without the American digital editing/digital overlays.
