.Hack Announced for TV and PS2

Bandai has plans for a multimedia blitz for its latest anime franchise .Hack (pronounced “Dot Hack”). The sci-fi fantasy series will be released as both a TV series and PS2 RPG game series. Yoshiyuki (Evangelion, Nadia) Sadamoto will serve as the character designer, Ito Kazunori (Patlabor, Dirty Pair) as scriptwriter, and Koichi (Dirty Pair) Mashita will direct the animation series. Japanese software company Cyberconnect2, whose previous work includes Silent Bomber on the PlayStation, is behind the development of the game, which will be released in four separate chapters, with the first chapter scheduled for release this June. The company plans to release the succeeding chapters every three months. The first game will be available in Japan alone for 3800 yen or as a special edition packed with the first TV series DVD for a very reasonable 5800 yen.

The Japanese homepage for the TV series is available here, but requires Macromedia Flash to access.
