New TOKYOPOP Announcements
|TOKYOPOP has revealed new information about their license of the Marmalade Boy animation and announced the new license, Brigadoon.
According to the official press release issued by TOKYOPOP, the company will at first simply dip its toes into the 76 episode Marmalade Boy TV series by confirming at first only the American release of episodes 1-24 and the short motion picture. TOKYOPOP is likely committing itself only to the first third of the show initially to see how well it sells in America.
Brigadoon: Marin & Meran was Sunrise Studios’ and director Kometani Yoshitomo’s follow-up to Gaogaiger and Betterman. Unlike Gaogaiger and Betterman, though, Brigadoon featured a female protagonist- the whimsical and imaginative 13 year old Asagi Marin. When the mysterious alien city of Brigadoon appears in the sky above Japan, strange robots begin trying to kill Marin. The robot guardian Meran Blue than appears to serve as both Marin’s friend and guardian. The 26 episode TV series premiered in Japan in July 2000.
