Asian Film Suffers Great Loss

Famed director Chang Cheh passed away of heart failure on June 22nd at the age of 79. Cheh directed 105 martial arts films for the Shaw Brothers studio in Hong Kong during the 1960s and 70s and remains one of the most influential Asian film directors of all time, having served as a mentor and influence to directors including Tsui Hark, John Woo, Ang Lee, and even Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodreguez and the Wachowski brothers. Some Chang Cheh’s most famous directorial efforts include One Armed Swordsman, Chinatown Kid, Crippled Avengers, and Five Deadly Venoms.
