Console Gaming Sales Results

The Bloomberg News Agency has reported that Sony seems to be winning the console war. Since the price drops of the Playstation 2, GameCube and Xbox announced in May, sales of the PS2 have doubled since last April. Sales of the Xbox have surpassed GameCube sales by nearly a 2-to-1 margin, but Xbox sales are still below Microsoft’s projected sales expectations. Considering that production cost for a PS2 is estimated at $185, $150 for the GameCube and more than $300 for the Xbox, Microsoft is expected to lose more than $2 million by next June.
