Spirited Away Not In Best Foreign Film Oscar Race

According to official AMPAS site, Japan has submitted the film Out, directed by Hideyuki Hirayama, as its official nominee to this year’s Academy Awards selection for Best Foreign Film. More than 50 official nominees from various countries will be narrowed down to roughly 6 finalists in competition for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. Japan’s nomination eliminates any chance of Spirited Away being a candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
