List of Japanese Taxpayers Reported

Japan’s National Tax Administration Agency has released its annual list of highest income tax paying citizens for the 2002 fiscal year. Once again, Rumiko Takahashi paid the most income tax of any anime or manga creator in Japan, although she (presumably the highest paid anime/manga creator in Japan) still did not rank among the top 100 names.

Rumiko Takahashi paid 172,140,000 yen in income tax last year.
Takeshi Konomi (creator of Prince of Tennis) paid 159,170,000 yen in income tax last year.
Fuyumi Ono (author of the Juuni Kokki novels) paid 39,890,000 yen in income tax last year.
Shuuhou Satou (author of the Black Jack ni Yoroshiku manga) paid 36,890,000 yen in income tax last year.
Hayao Miyazaki paid 26,840,000 yen in income tax last year.

The list was topped by pharmaceutical company chairman Hiroshi Hashimoto, who paid 1,705,100,000 yen in income tax last year.
