Media Blasters Mono DVD Debacle

Members of the anime fan community, in association with Anime on DVD, have apparently conclusively determined that at least 18 DVD releases from Media Blasters contain mono audio recordings of one or both the English and Japanese language audio tracks, although stereo mixes of the tracks exist and theoretically should be present on the DVDs in question. Media Blasters Production Supervisor Sean Molyneaux stated on August 5th that at least the first 12 Kingdoms DVD does indeed have stereo sound, and the fault lies in Prologic audio decoding of the DVD. However, tests by fans without Prologic capable audio equipment have proven that the 12 Kingdoms DVD is, in fact, mono. In the month plus since Sean Molyneaux’s response, Media Blasters has made no acknowledgement or response to charges of releasing arguably defective DVDs. Members of the fan community who are involved in this ongoing discussion are organizing a formal complaint to Media Blasters on the Anime on DVD Forum.
