Entertainment Goes “POP” Symposium this Saturday

UCLA Extension, in collaboration with the Tokyo Foundation, will be holding a free symposium on the future of anime and manga globally entitled ENTERTAINMENT GOES “POP”. The event will take place Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 147 Dodd Hall on the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) campus between 2-5 PM. Guest speakers will include Shinji Shimizu (producer for Toei Animation), Stuart Levy (CEO & founder of Tokyopop), Don Murphy (producer for Astro Boy), Keith Boesky (International Creative Management) and Kimindo Kusaka (chairman of Tokyo Foundation).

The program will introduce a 10-week lecture series beginning in the Fall term that will feature lectures, demonstrations and discussions by industry professionals such as Nobuhiko Horie (chairman of Coamix/Raijin Comics; former Shonen Jump editor-in-chief), Hiroaki Takeuchi (producer for Animatrix ‘Program’ & ‘World Record’ and Shenmue), Tetsunosuke Inaba (mangaka for Weekly Shonen Champion and Monthly Shonen Champion), and Shinji Shimizu (producer for Interstella 5555 and Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo).
