2004 Big Apple Anime Fest Possibly Canceled

The Big Apple Anime Fest (BAAF) has formally announced that plans for this year’s convention conflict with the 2004 Republican National Convention, also being held in New York City from August 26 to September 3. All hotels in the area are already booked, and security is expected to be heightened to a point at which it would inconvenience an anime convention.

The BAAF planners are considering options including changing the date of this year’s convention, moving the convention location and limiting attendance in accordance with accommodations, reducing the scope of the convention, and canceling this year’s convention.
