Comic industry market watch website ICv2 has reported its picks for Anime Phenomenon of 2004 and Anime Flop of 2004. ICv2 calls the late night TV broadcast of anime on the Cartoon Network, Tech TV and MTV the most influential anime trend of 2004, and calls the lacking success of retro anime in America, including Astro Boy, Cyborg 009, and Kikaider, the biggest anime industry flop of 2004.
