AD Vision Announces Steel Angel Release Plans

AD Vision has confirmed for Anime on DVD that their plan is to release Steel Angel Kurumi on 4 DVD discs, each having 6 fifteen minute episodes. The episodes will not be spliced together but will be presented as individual episodes as they were for their Japanese television broadcast and DVD release. This advance word also suggests that AD Vision will be releasing only the 24 Kotetsu Tenshi Kurumi episodes broadcast on Japanese television as part of the Anime Complex II anthology program, and not the 4 additional epilogue episodes (episodes 25-28) released exclusively to Japanese home video. No release date has been announced yet, though.

24 episodes of the original Kotetsu Tenshi Kurumi television series were broadcast on Japanese television in 1999 & 2000. Four additional episodes were created and released following the TV series DVD release as 4 DVD singles. The second series, Kotetsu Tenshi Kurumi 2 Shiki aired earlier this summer as part of Anime Complex Night. A 3 episode OAV series titled Kotetsu Tenshi Kurumi Zero premiered at the same time as the second TV series.

AD Vision has not commented on their release plans for their other Anime Complex series, the 48 episode Neoranga, nor their plans for licenses including You’re Under Arrest Special and Let’s Dance With Papa, which also consisted of episodes less than 15 minutes long apiece.
