AD Vision News from Sakura Con

AD Vision is currently at work on getting Nadia, Bubblegum Crisis 2040 and Nadesico broadcast on American television. Gamera 2, Parasite Eve and Spriggan are being primed for theatrical release, Spriggan possibly as early as September. The 1995 Gamera: Guardian of the Universe and Gamera 3: Incomplete Struggle will go straight to DVD.

Because the VHS market is quickly dwindling to non-existance, AD Vision will be focusing their attention on DVD production. theatrical releases and TV broadcasts of their properties. They hope to have their entire back catalog of VHS releases transferred to DVD by sometime in 2002. The ADV Fansubs line will soon be moving to DVD exclusive, and will concentrate on subtitling older “golden period” titles.

AD Vision’s upcoming priorities are on the Nadesico and You’re Under Arrest movies, Princess 9, Shin Getter Robo, “Soul Hunter,” and Satoru Akihori’s Chivas 1-2-3 OAV series, which will be re-named “Sorcerer Hunters on the Rocks” because of the puns with characters named after mixed drinks, although the series has no direct relationship to Bakuretsu Hunter. The original name cannot be used in America due to copyright ownership concerns with the name “Chivas.”

Highly anticipate AD Vision properties including Excel Saga and Burn Up Excess were not mentioned as forthcoming releases. AD Vision has an option on the Nadesico Gekiganger 3 OAV but has not yet licensed this episode for domestic release.

AD Vision is interested in releasing the edited dub of Sailormoon seasons 1 & 2 on DVD but does not have the DVD distribution rights. Fans are urged to contact AD Vision regarding this title so that ADV can prove to DiC that there is a market for this franchise on DVD.

A recall of the Sakura Wars DVD with an inverted phase audio flaw is in the works.

Regarding multiple languages on DVD, a Spanish language track may be included on the Nadia DVDs. Both AD Vision and Anime Village want to release more titles in Canada but are having trouble meeting the Canadian requirement of including a French language track on all releases.
