AD Vision News on Houshin Engi

Janice Williams of AD Vision revealed to Anime on DVD some details on the upcoming American DVD release of the 26 episode Houshin Engi TV series, to be re-titled in the US “Soul Hunter.” Apparently AD Vision is making efforts to present Houshin Engi in a form as close to its original Japanese presentation as possible.

Because the first episode does not have an opening animation, it will be presented on the DVD with its Japanese credits intact, with additional English credits. Starting with episode 2, each episode has a slightly different opening animation. Each of these original openings will be kept intact in the US version with the exception of English credits replacing the original Japanese text, and the original Japanese title screen fading into an original American title. The episode titles and next episode text will be the original Japanese versions with subtitles.

DVD bonus features will include “character bios, voice actor bios, a relationship tree (to help you keep track of who’s who because there are a LOT of characters in this show), a glossary of terms, and translator notes.

The DVD version will be released on six $29.98 DVDs.
