AIC to Change Hands Again

Mobile software company Aplix Corporation has announced plans to acquire the Anime International Company (AIC) production studio for 700 million yen ($8.5 million USD). Aplix will purchase the studio from present owner, pachislo (pachinko-slot machine) maker Oizumi, which acquired 95% of AIC last year for 530 million yen ($6.3 million USD). Aplix intends the acquisition to contribute to its effort to market anime on smartphones throughout China and Southeast Asia.
