American Akira Movies Canceled
|Bloody Disgusting reports that Ruairi Robinson is no longer attached to direct the two American live action Akira movies, and the entire production is now “dead as a doornail.” Appian Way and Warner Bros. Pictures first announced plans to produce a live action American film franchise adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s manga in early 2008.

Damn. Now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jafd97yJFOI won’t be a reality. ;-; *sarcasm* You know why they canceled it, though, right? ‘Cus Watchmen “bombed”, and they didn’t want another Speed Racer on their hands.
Are you serious? It’s impossible to make a live action Akira. Even the Japanese wouldn’t be able to do it well if they tried. Some art has to be
left as is; Akira being a prime example. Animation is a medium where the
imagination really is the only boundary(and budget). Film on the other hand
is a whole another story. If you get what I’m saying?
We’ve seen the live action anime before, it doesn’t work…
Thank God. Now we just need the same thing to happen to “Cowboy Bebop”…
