Anime Expo NY Merges With Big Apple Anime Fest

The Big Apple Anime Fest has issued a press release announcing that this year’s convention to be held on August 30 through September 2nd will join with and essentially absorb the East Coast Anime Expo scheduled for August 31st through September 2nd.

NOTE: As of June 11, 2002 it is necessary to clarify that while Big Apple Anime Fest is the official Red & Black Sponsor of Anime Expo New York, and both conventions occur at the same time and place, Anime Expo New York will be organized, managed and staffed entirely by independant members of the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, the organization that founded Anime Expo.

Anime Expo has over a decade of convention hosting experience and international name recognition. The Big Apple Anime Fest will be hosting its second convention and will also have representatives at next weekend’s Tokyo Anime Fair to encourage Japanese fans to visit New York City this summer to attend the American convention.
