Anime in Japan

Lodoss War creator Ryo Mizuno is currently involved with a new anime project. He is overseeing a new series described as “a space opera with lots of cute girls.” The anime’s working title is Project GA.

Although the Powerpuff Girls have been popular in Japan for quite a while now, the show has never aired on TV there, until now. Starting January 10th, the Powerpuff Girls will begin airing in Japanese on TV Tokyo. The show will air every Wednesday night at 6:30 PM, the time slot formerly occupied by the Transformers. PPG will be narrated by Japanese comedian Kazuki Kosakai.

In addition to the new show “Earth Defending Family,” Shoji Kawamori is working on a second new anime series titled Earth Girl Ajuna. EGA is the story about a young girl who sees the future in a dream and then goes about trying to change the world in the present to avoid the future she foresaw. Fan favorite composer/musician Yoko Kanno will provide the music for the series.
