Anime Mirai 2014 Teaser Released

The Japan Animation Creators Association & Japanese government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs’ collaborative annual “Anime Mirai” young animator training project has released a teaser trailer revealing its four sponsored 2014 productions. Each of the four studios selected to participate in the 2014 campaign will receive a grant of 38 million yen ($380,000 USD) to create an original short anime film. The productions will be created by novice professional animators under the tutelage of veteran producers & directors.

Director Yasuhiro Yoshiura (Eve no Jikan, Sakasama no Patema) will direct “Harmonie” at studio Ultra Super Pictures.

Director Ayumu Watanabe (Uchuu Kyodai, Danchi Tomoo) will direct “Okii Ichinensei to Chiisana Ninensei” (The Big First-Grader and the Small Second-Grader) at studio A-1 Pictures.

Porfy no Nagai Tabi and Doraemon episode director Kazuaki Imai will direct “Paroru no Miraijima” (Paroru’s Future Island) at studio Shinei Animation.

King of Thorn & Psycho-Pass animation director Naoyuki Onda will direct “Kuro no Su -Chronus-” at studio 4°C.

The four shorts will be screened theatrically in limited Japanese release beginning March 1, 2014 before being broadcast on Japanese television.
