Anime Sales Actually Up in 2005?

According to ICv2 News, a year-to-date comparison of Nielsen Videoscan reports confirms that 2005 anime DVD sales are up 7.6% over the same time period last year. The increase is attributed to strong 2005 releases including Chrono Crusade, Gantz, DNAngel, and Disney’s second round of Studio Ghibli releases.

Videoscan reports nationwide home video sales as reported by participating retailers. Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest video retailer, and specialty retailers including comic book and game shops, are not included in Videoscan reporting.
