Appleseed Movie Release Date Announced

Nikkan Sports has reported that the full CG Appleseed movie will open in Japanese theaters next April. The film is directed by Shinji Aramaki (creator of Bubblegum Crisis). Fumihiko Sori, director of the smash hit live action film Ping Pong, serves as “creative producer.” Deunan’s voice will be provided by 21-year-old actress Asumi Minowa.

According to the film’s press packet provided to potential distributors: Working with a young, energetic staff, Fumihiko SORI and Shinji ARAMAKI are looking to create the movie in the spirit of the original comic and attract a wide audience, including not only fans of the comic but mainstream moviegoers as well.
