Appleseed XIII Release Scheduled

The official website for the Appleseed XIII anime series has announced its multi-platform debut. Appleseed XIII ~Yuigon~, the first of two planned compilation movies that condense the whole 13 episode series, will open in Tokyo and Osaka theaters on June 13, and in Nagoya on June 27. Theaters that screen the “Yuigon” movie will also sell exclusive Blu-ray copies of the movie. The first “regular” DVD and Blu-ray volume of Appleseed XIII will contain the series’ first three unedited episodes and go on sale July 6. The full 13 episode series will also stream online. The Appleseed XIII ~Yogen~ compilation film that condenses the second half of the series will open theatrically in Tokyo on October 24 and in Nagoya on November 7.

Jinni’s Animation Studios (Fireball) will animate the new adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s manga with Production I.G assisting and Takayuki Hamana (Kemono Souja Erin, Toshokan Senso) directing. Maaya Sakamoto (Hitomi in Escaflowne, Shiki in Kara no Kyoukai) will voice Deunan Knute. Kouichi Yamadera, who played Briareos in the Appleseed: Ex Machina movie will reprise his role.
