Ask John: Are There Sequels to MS 08 and Orphen?

Question:
I’ve been watching 08th MS Team and I heard something about there being a movie for the series. Is there one and do you think it will come to the States? Secondly, I’m also really into Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, but I’ve seen advertisements online for a soundtrack to Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Revenge. Is this a second season of the series and do you think that it will be coming to the States either?

Answer:
The Gundam MS 08th Team movie, known as “Miller’s Report” was released as part of a double feature with the Gundam W: Endless Waltz movie. Miller’s Report is a condensed 50 minute long re-telling of the first eight episodes of the MS 08 OAV series story that includes new animation and a new character, Alice Miller, as a framing device. Bandai has not yet announced any plans for an American release of this film. Considering that Bandai has never released the Gundam 0083 movie in America, which is also a similar retelling of the OAV series story with a small bit of new animation, it’s unlikely that Miller’s Report will make it to the US either.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Revenge (or Majutsushi Orphen: Revenge) was the second Orphen series which premiered 7 months after the conclusion of the first series. By all accounts, Orphen Revenge was a very different series than the first. Unlike the first relatively dark and dramatic series, Orphen Revenge was a light-hearted, slapstick 23 episode comedy. No American license for Orphen: Revenge has been announced yet, but given AD Vision’s tendency to option sequel series, such as has been the case with Those Who Hunt Elves and Burn-Up W, it’s probably a safe bet to assume that Orphen: Revenge will be coming to the US eventually, if the first series performs well.
