Ask John: Is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures coming to the US?
|Question:
Last year I heard Super Techno Arts were releasing the 6 OAV series of JoJo. Is it still coming out? Everywhere I look there’s no info on the series release or Super Techno Arts.
Answer:
As far as I know, Super Techno Arts, the American branch of Japanese anime production company Studio A.P.P.P. (Jojo, Robot Carnival, Ima Soku ni Iru Boku, Kacho Ohji) still plans to release Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures in the US. Their initial plan was to release all 7 episodes of the new OAV series in Japan before bringing any of the Jojo anime to the US. Because the current, second OAV series is a prequel to the earlier 6 episode OAV series, the second OAV series would be released in America before the original series. Currently there are only 3 episodes of the new OAV series available in Japan, so I can only guess that, assuming Studio A.P.P.P. still intends to market their own anime productions in the US themselves, we won’t see the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures animation available in the US until at least late 2001 or 2002.
