Ask John: What Does “Strawberry Eggs” Mean?
|Question:
I’ve gotta know. What does the phrase “strawberry eggs” have to do with the show “I My Me! Strawberry Eggs”? I can’t find any answer anywhere so I figured if anyone could find out, it’d be you.
Answer:
I’m not a big fan of the I, My, Me Strawberry Eggs television series. After watching half of it fansubbed I simply lost interest in it. As a result, I’ve never really thought much about the title, always just assuming that it was an example of the famous Japanese “Engrish.” If there is any significance to the phrase “Strawberry Egg” I’d guess that it’s an analogy to two Amawa Hibiki’s position in the show. In the same way a cold, hard and white egg is turned pinkish red and sweet to become a “strawberry egg,” the male Hibiki is turned into a female in order to fit into a place he’s not wanted and doesn’t belong.
