Ask John: Why Are Manga Series Sometimes Left Unfinished?

Question:
Why some “manga-kas” like Kia Asamiya didn’t finish his works? Kia Asamiya for example, didn’t finish Dark Angel or Silent Mobius. It’s a reason to do this?

Answer:
Sometimes certain manga artists have personal problems in their lives which delay their work, as happened to Yukito Kishiro’s work on Gunnm. Some manga artists like Kazushi Hagiwara and Masamune Shirow simply draw very slowly and may take years to finish particular works. Artists like Yoshiyuki Sadamoto that also work in the anime industry may temporarily stop working on their manga series to prioritize other jobs like anime character design. And then there’s always a chance that a manga artist can simply get tired of his/her particular series and just want to move to something different and new.
