Ask John: Why is Nagha Not in the Slayers TV series?

Question:
Can you explain something to me? I’ve seen all the Slayers work from AD Vision (Slayers: The Motion Picture, Slayers: Dragon Slave, & Slayers: Explosion Array). However I’ve never seen the Slayers series from Central Park Media/U.S Manga. I once saw a preview for the series, & Nagha was no where in it! I’ve also read some stuff on Animenation.com about it, & there’s nothing about Nagha. Why is she in the AD Vision movies & OVAs but never mentioned in the previews? Does AD Vision have some sort of Copyright on the tall, large busted, leather clad heroine?

Answer:
AD Vision owns the movie and OAV Slayers series rights while CPM owns the television series. The three TV series are a single continuing storyline theoretically set after the events that occur in the loosley related movies and OAVs. Nagha simply never appears in the TV series (beside a brief walk-by cameo in episode 17 of the first series) in the same way that Amelia, Zelgadis, Xeros, Felia, Sylvie and Gourry never appear in the movies or OAVs.
