With the English speaking otaku community suddenly abuzz with discussion of elite fansubbers, “Communist” conspiracies, and missing transport streams, I think to myself that I’d probably be quite pleased if we could all just go back to the old days when anime fans just liked anime.
My first response is “Here here!” My second is to say this is one reason why I find it hard to be an anime fan these days: too much elitism among fans, and too much discussion about how anime will be obtaind in the future. I am just happy to get what is available that suits my particular tastes. Oh well. (thinks of a 90’s Queen song.)
This more-than-a-little-stubby post almost makes me want to re-enter some online anime community just to figure out what John’s talking about…
Did they, or did they just not have an internet available to get political about anime?
Let them have their petty fights, i just want to watch decently subbed anime. I think 75% (at least) of the people dling <3 Ru episodes feel that way or aren't even aware of it. Money well spent?
I could say that about any entertainment medium I enjoy. Video Games (which are filled with too much bickering and elitism), manga, and movies.
