Bandai Acquires Kurokami

Bandai Entertainment has announced its acquisition of American distribution rights to next month’s Kurokami The Animation television series. The Japanese series, based on an ongoing manga by Korean artists Lim Dall Young and Park Sung Woo, will be broadcast simultaneously in Japan, Korea, and the US beginning January 8, 2009. The series will air in America on the iaTV network on Thursday nights, 8 hours after its Japanese broadcast. Bandai will release the series on American DVD following the TV broadcast.

The English language dub, recorded to unfinished animation due to the deadlines necessitated by the speedy distribution process, is being produced by Toshifumi Yoshida and directed by Mike Sinterniklaas. Laura Bailey, Jason Griffith, Julie Ann Taylor, Stephanie Sheh, and Christopher Kromer play the lead roles of Kuro, Keita, Akane, Excel, and Daichi, respectively.
